INTRODUCTION

DURALAST 30MG contains Dapoxetine which belongs to the group of medicines called Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors. It is used in the treatment of premature ejaculation. Premature ejaculation is a common male sexual disorder in which the male ejaculates sperms very early with less sexual stimulation and before he wants to. It is caused mainly due to hormonal imbalance, abnormal levels of brain chemicals or any other local infections or disease affecting the sexual organs.

Dapoxetine delays ejaculation (release of semen) by increasing the activity of a particular chemical called serotonin in the brain. This promotes control over ejaculation and helps to hold sperms for a longer duration of time. Prior to the treatment, your doctor would perform certain tests to access whether you have or at risk of developing severe low blood pressure while stand up.

Take DURALAST 30MG at least 1-3 hours before anticipated sexual activity. Avoid consumption of alcohol or grapefruit juice while taking DURALAST 30MG. Before taking DURALAST 30MG inform your doctor if you have any history of bleeding disorders or mental disorders. It should not be used in patients without any sexual problems.

DURALAST 30MG is not recommended for use in patients with liver or heart problems. It is also not suitable for use in children or adolescents (below 18 years). Inform your doctor immediately if you experience dizziness upon standing up suddenly or if you experience sudden mood changes or suicidal thoughts after taking DURALAST 30MG. The most common side effects of taking DURALAST 30MG are dizziness, nausea, tiredness, increased sweating, restlessness and decrease in sex drive. Consult your doctor if any of the side effect troubles you.

• Treats premature ejaculation in adult men (18 – 64 years of age)

HOW DURALAST 30MG WORKS

DURALAST 30MG delays ejaculation by blocking the reuptake of a neurotransmitter called serotonin between the nerve cells. This increases the activity of serotonin within the brain which increases the time taken to release semen (ejaculate) and can improve the control over the ejaculation during sexual intercourse.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take DURALAST 30MG as advised by your physician. It can be taken with or without food. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Take this medicine at least 1-3 hours before anticipated sexual activity. Your doctor will decide the suitable dose and duration of therapy for you, depending upon your age, body weight and health condition.

SIDE EFFECTS OF DURALAST 30MG

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Headache:  

Rest and relax. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Applying a pain-relieving balm on your forehead can be beneficial. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your headache. Consult your doctor if your headache worsens.

Dizziness:

Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines completely while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your dizziness. Consult your doctor if your dizziness worsens or if you feel dizzy upon standing up suddenly.

Diarrhea:

Hydrate yourself by drinking plenty of fluids, such as water or fruit juices. Consuming ORS can also be beneficial. Do not self-treat diarrhea on your own. Consult your doctor if your diarrhea becomes uncontrollable.

Constipation:

Eat lot of fibre rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals. Drink plenty of fluids. Exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor if this side effect bothers you.

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug – Drug interactions:

• Medicines used to treat depression (Ex. fluoxetine, sertraline, citalopram, escitalopram, amitriptyline, isocarboxazid, selegiline, nefazodone and St. john’s wort)
• Thioridazine (a medicine used to treat a mental disorder called schizophrenia)
• Lithium (medicine used to treat bipolar disorder)
• Tryptophan (medicine used to induce sleep)
• Medicines used to treat migraines Ex. almotriptan, sumatriptan
• NSAIDs (used to treat pain and inflammation) Ex. ibuprofen and aspirin
• Tramadol (a medicine used to relieve pain)
• Antibiotics (used to treat bacterial infections) Ex. telithromycin, linezolid, erythromycin, and clarithromycin
• Medicines used to treat HIV infection (Ex. ritonavir, saquinavir, nelfinavir, atazanavir amprenavir and fosamprenavir)
• Medicines used to treat fungal infections (such as ketoconazole, itraconazole and fluconazole)
• Warfarin (a medicine used to prevent blood clotting)
• Medicines used to treat erectile dysfunction (such as sildenafil, tadalafil or vardenafil)
• Medicines used to treat high blood pressure or chest pain (such as verapamil and diltiazem)
• Aprepitant (a medicine which is used to treat nausea)
• Medicines used to reduce anxiety and alter mental stability (Ex. morphine, pethidine, alprazolam, midazolam, clonazepam, MDMA (ecstasy) or lysergic acid diethylamide)

B. Drug-Food interaction:

Avoid drinking grapefruit juice within 24 hours prior to taking DURALAST 30MG as it may increase the level of DURALAST 30MG in the body.

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally took more DURALAST 30MG, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
